Privacy policy

Last updated: 6 November 2026

The short version:

  • Bubble Dare has no accounts and keeps your progress on your device. We don't collect personal data ourselves.
  • The game is free because it shows ads from Google AdMob. Google collects some information from your device to show them, and personalised ads are shown only if you allow it.
  • If you use Game Center, your scores and achievements are handled by Apple.
  • If you email us, we only use your message to reply to you.

Who we are

Bubble Dare is made by Stefán Jóhann Arngrímsson, an independent developer based in Iceland who publishes games under the name Mothlark (“we”, “us”). We are responsible for this policy and you can reach us at support@mothlark.com.

Information the game collects

We don't collect any. Bubble Dare does not ask for your name, email or any other personal details, and we don't use analytics or crash-reporting services. The advertising software in the game does collect some information, as described under Advertising.

Your game progress and settings (such as your best score) are saved only on your device. We can't see them, and they are removed if you delete the app.

Game Center

Bubble Dare uses Apple's Game Center for leaderboards and achievements. If you're signed in to Game Center on your device, your scores and achievements are sent to Apple and shown to other players together with your Game Center nickname and avatar. This is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. We don't receive your Apple Account, email address or real name.

You can stop sharing with Game Center at any time by signing out under Settings → Game Center on your iPhone or iPad. The game works fine without it.

Advertising

The game is free because it shows ads. They come from Google AdMob, a service of Google: a video you choose to watch for a reward in the game (carrying on after a crash, or doubling a run's pearls), and now and then a short ad between runs. There are no ads during play.

To choose, show and count ads, and to detect fraud, Google's software in the game collects information from your device, such as:

Google may share this information with the advertising companies that bid to show an ad in the game. They are listed in Google's consent form (“List of partners”), each with what it does with the information.

Your choices. In the European Economic Area (including Iceland), the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the game asks for your consent through Google's consent form before personalised ads are shown, and you can refuse. You can change your answer at any time in the game: Settings → Privacy → Ad choices. On iPhone and iPad, Google uses the advertising identifier only if you tap Allow when iOS asks whether the game may track you. If you don't allow it, or don't consent, you still see ads, but they are not personalised. You can turn tracking off for all apps in the Settings app under Privacy & Security → Tracking.

In US states with privacy laws, such as California, showing personalised ads this way can count as “selling” or “sharing” personal information. If you live in one of them, you can opt out: in the game, open Settings → Privacy → Ad choices and choose Don't sell or share my data. You still see ads, but they are not personalised.

Google handles this information under its own policies: the Google Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services. We don't receive any of it, only totals of how many ads were shown and what they earned. The game asks Google for ads rated suitable for all ages.

When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to answer you and to fix problems you report. We keep support emails for as long as needed to help you, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.

This website

This website does not use cookies, analytics or tracking scripts, and it loads no third-party content. It is hosted by GitHub Pages, which may log visitors' IP addresses for security and to keep the service running; see the GitHub privacy statement.

Children

Bubble Dare is suitable for players of all ages. We don't collect personal data from anyone, children included, and the game asks Google for ads rated suitable for all ages.

Your rights

Under data protection law (including the GDPR, which applies in Iceland) you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. In practice, the only personal data we could hold is a support email you've sent us. For information Google and its advertising partners collect for ads, use the choices under Advertising, or contact Google through its privacy policy and the partners through the policies linked in the consent form. Write to support@mothlark.com and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to the Icelandic Data Protection Authority, Persónuvernd, or to the data protection authority where you live.

Changes to this policy

If the game changes in a way that affects your privacy, for example if we add a new feature that needs data, we'll update this page and change the date at the top before that version of the game is released.
